Professor Shirley is currently holds the Joseph Edgar Maddy Distinguished University Emeritus Professor of Voice faculty position at the University of Michigan. He is highly celebrated for his extensive & distinguished operatic career throughout the world. CONCERT: AN AFTERNOON AT THE OPERA
Featuring Dr. Kelly Hale, Cincinnati Opera coach & FUMC Vocal Staff
Sunday, March 14, 2010 – 2:00 p.m. – FREE ADMISSION
Professor of Opera and Coaching at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music since 1976, Kelly Hale has coached, conducted, and staged nearly 100 opera productions. His renown as a vocal coach and accompanist has led him to perform in many parts of the world, from Abu Dhabi to New Zealand. As Artist-in-Residence at the Bay View Music Festival, he has performed over 300 concerts as well as concertized in other venues.
Dr. Hale’s engagement at FUMC will conclude with this delightful “Afternoon at the Opera.” Under the coaching and accompaniment of Dr. Hale, our resident Vocal Staff will present a concert of popular operatic repertoire for solo and ensemble including works by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Rossini, and others. Featured singers include Rhea Olivacce (soprano), Kimerica Parr (soprano), Cynthian Brundage (mezzo soprano), Willis Bote (tenor), Michael Parr (tenor), Jesse Enderle (baritone), and Ben Sieverding (bass). Bringing the operatic list of “hit parade” selections into perspective, Kelly Hale will even give fascinating and entertaining audience insight and information about these selections.
