When are Worship services?
Downtown services are at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. From June 17, 2007, through August 26, 2007, we have one service only at 9:30. Green Wood services are at 5:00 p.m. every Saturday evening.
Who schedules rooms? Weddings? Baptisms?
Adele Roy, the Administrative Assistant, keeps the church calendar and schedules rooms in the church buildings. Adele also takes all wedding requests. See our pages on Wedding Policies, Recitals, and Event Bookings for additional information.
If your event will require a special setup, please print and fill out a Room Setup Sheet (sometimes referred to as a "Green Sheet") and turn it in to the church office at least five days prior to your event.

Does First United Methodist Church marry non-members?
Yes, however the calendar is reserved for members until one year out from the date. All weddings are officiated by FUMC clergy. See our page on Wedding Policies for additional information on weddings.
Who do I talk to about making an appointment to see clergy?
The clergy keep their own calendars and should be contacted directly. (See our Staff page for contact information.)
When is the downtown church office open?
The church office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the summer, the office closes at 4:30 p.m.
How is the artwork in the display cases downtown coordinated?
Please consult with a member of the Fine Arts Committee.
When is the Green Wood office open?
The Green Wood office is not staffed on a regular basis. Please call the Green Wood office at 665-8558 and leave a message to make an appointment, or call the downtown office if it is an urgent matter, 662-4536.
Is Sunday School available year-round?
Sunday school is typically available during the school year, with a modified schedule and format for the summer. Check with the office for further details, 662-4536.
When is the radio broadcast aired?
The Sunday downtown service is broadcast the following Sunday at 8:00 a.m. on WLBY 1290 AM.
Can I park in the downtown lot when I’m not on Church business?
Our lot is small and often crowded when there are activities in the church. Please park elsewhere if you are not here on business.
Where can I park downtown?
Parking is tight downtown! Check out our page on Parking at FUMC. There are a couple of parking garages within walking distance of First Church. The closest is Liberty Square garage on Washington Street, directly across the street from our own lot. On Sundays, parking at Liberty Square is free.
How do I get an announcement in the bulletin or The Messenger?
Bulletin announcements are published in the order of service each weekend. They are due by noon the Wednesday prior to the service (due dates around Easter, Christmas, and other particularly busy times might be earlier in the week). These can be dropped at the office or emailed to Adele Roy.
Announcements for The Messenger are due by the 10th of the month prior. These can be dropped at the office or emailed directly to jschlee@umich.edu.
How do I get The Messenger mailed to my house?
If you are an active member, or have indicated an interest in joining the church, you automatically receive The Messenger. If you have begun attending, and have registered your attendance more than three times (with your mailing address) you will begin to recieve the newsletter. If you wish to recieve the newsletter and are not currently doing so, please email Tina Alee with your name, address, and phone number indicating that you would like to be added to our mailing list. If you would prefer not to recieve it on paper, but to get an email alerting you to it's availability on our website, please let us know!
How do I get tickets to Green Wood Coffee Houses?
Call Green Wood, 665-8558, and leave a message specifying your name, phone number, and the number of tickets you will need. If there is time, mail a check for the total to the Green Wood address. Tickets will be waiting for you at the door. Reservations made without payment may not be honored at the door
