Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) is a group of over 30 Washtenaw County congregations and support staff who seek to shelter and assist homeless families and maintain the family unit.
The mission of IHN is to provide temporary shelter, food and support services in a caring atmosphere of dignity and safety. More than providing just a bed and a roof for families, the goal of IHN is to support the families in securing and maintaining their own home.
As a supporting congregation, we provide daily meals and on-site staff support, four times annually. We need MANY volunteers to fulfill our commitment to our homeless neighbors during our host week. We need volunteers to:
- provide grocery and general household items;
- prepare the evening meal;
- to serve the evening meal and help clean up;
- to do an evening activity with the children;
- to stay overnight to support Alpha house staff as needed;
- work various daytime shifts for weekend volunteers.
