September through April we have downtown worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. While the style of worship is different at each service, the same sermon is typically offered. There are rare occasions where the format of both services is the same -- this might be due to the visit of a special guest or be the result of a special musical offering by our Chancel Choir and Instrumental ensemble.

Our 9:30 a.m. service is considered more traditional. These services include a variety of musical offerings featuring our robed Chancel Choir (each Sunday), Chancel Bell Choir, Children's Choirs, and Instrumental Ensembles and soloists throughout the year. From May through August, the music is provided by soloists and small ensembles. We sing hymns from our two hymnals, The United Methodist Hymnal and The Faith We Sing. (This service is offered year-round.).

Our 11:15 a.m. service is called "The Gathering." Services feature distinctive contemporary music performed by the First Vocal & Instrumental Ensembles who continually mix styles of jazz, contemporary, folk, gospel, reggae, and rock. Song lyrics are projected overhead for these services. (This service does not meet from May until the weekend after Labor Day.)

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is typically celebrated on the first weekend of each month. Everyone earnestly seeking a closer relationship is invited to take communion at First United Methodist Church, regardless of your membership or religious affiliation.
