The United Methodist Women is a group of women who seek to know God, and to experience freedom as whole persons as shown by Jesus Christ. In our organization we develop supportive fellowship and expand our understanding of the mission of the church. We contribute to the global ministries of the church, expecially the services to women, children, and youth.
This is a nationwide organization. Here at FUMC we have a monthly meeting on the second Friday of each month. The times vary: morning, lunch, dinner, or afternoon tea. All women of the church are urged to participate in these times of fellowship, worship, and learning. The times and locations are announced in the church service bulletin.
Throughout the month, there are meetings of smaller groups of women, known as "circle" meetings:
-
Mary Martha Circle ... Fourth Friday at noon
-
Miriam Circle ... Third Tuesday at 9:15 a.m.
-
-
Mother's Circle II ... Second Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
-
Phoebe Circle ... Fourth Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
-
Sarah's Sisters Circle ... Second Monday at 7 p.m.
Circle meetings and other activities of the UMW are often announced in the weekly worship bulletin announcements, which can be found on this website. Visitors are welcome to attend regular meetings and special events, and to become regular members. If you would like to recieve occassional e-mails about up-coming UMW events, please phone or e-mail Dee Chapell (668-7160, deechapell@aol.com ).
The UMW occasionally has fund-raising activities to support mission projects.
