Information about our UMW groups

Mary Martha is a sharing and caring group that meets the fourth Friday in the month, except for May and December, (which fall on the beginning of holiday weekends,) and over the summer. We start with a brown bag lunch and devotions, and finish with a program. Our programs vary and range from making valentines for cancer patients at U of M to visiting with someone who has just returned from a mission trip. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Sandy Hultquist, Chair, 734-663-8890, slhultquist@comcast.net

Miriam meets the third Tuesday of each month except June, July, August and December. We meet at 9:15 a.m. in members’ homes. We have a variety of programs given by members or outside speakers. Most of all, we enjoy the fellowship we share with each other. We invite you to join us.  Chairs are: Marian Allmand, 734-665-0230, c.allmand@comcast.net and Marge Whitacre, 734-332-6450, bobwhit@provide.net

Mothers, Too meets the second Sunday of the month at FUMC in the Aldersgate room at 11am.  We are a discussion group which is open to new members.  We discuss personal and church issues in a non judgmental, caring way.  No dues, no obligations, no programs, just discussion.  Kathleen Stroud, Chair, 734-995-2532, cookie4860@aol.com

Phoebe is a group of friendly women who enjoy meeting to grow spiritually, to broaden our knowledge of issues and needs in our church, community and around the world, and to enjoy fellowship and support. We meet monthly on the 4th Monday of each month, September through May, at 1:00 pm, sometimes in members' homes, and sometimes at the church.  The programs are varied, with guest speakers, programs by members, and projects to support UMW and community needs. We welcome new members and visitors. Specific information is in the bulletin each month, or call Betsy Kincaid, 973-1828, Kincaid421@comcast.net.  Please join us for a meeting.

Sarah's Sisters is a group of women who come together the second Monday of the month at Green Wood. We begin our gathering at 7 pm with lighting candles and sharing our blessings. We then have our program and end around 8:30 pm. We occasionally have refreshments. Dress is casual. Over the years we have done book studies, Bible readings and discussions, listened to others share their experiences such as our clergy, those going on mission trips, or those who have a special interest. We have also coordinated mission projects such as putting together and mailing out layette kits for Haiti after the earthquake, putting together health kits for Liberia and for UMCOR, and putting together and sending out care packages for the those in the military in Iraq. Our June gathering is a salad and dessert potluck picnic held outside at Green Wood. Sarah's Sisters meets in the months of September, October, November, February, March, April, May and June. We welcome all women who would like to gather with a group of Christian women who are asking and listening, encouraging and supporting, caring and doing through Jesus Christ. For further information please contact Dee Chapell, 734-668-7160, deechapell@aol.com.

The United Methodist Women is a group of women who seek to know God, and to experience freedom as whole persons as shown by Jesus Christ. In our organization we develop supportive fellowship and expand our understanding of the mission of the church. We contribute to the global ministries of the church, especially the services to women, children, and youth.

Please review our monthly newsletter online.

This is a nationwide organization. Here at FUMC we have monthly meetings with the times varying: morning, afternoon, or evening.
