Beginning the weekend of January 16 & 17, Rev. Paterson will begin a sermon series based on the book "unChristian" by David Kinnaman.
The American Religious Identification Survey, which was done by Trinity College, found that 15 percent of U.S. adults say they have no religion. That is up from 8.2% in 1990.
Now we learn from David Kinnaman in his book unChristian that 40% of the largest segment of the adult population, 16-29 year olds, are what he terms "church outsiders" -- those outside of the Christian faith. And what's more, they have a predominately negative view of Christianity.
Should we care? Is it just normal rebellion of young people? What does this negative perception mean for our ministry in the midst of a large university? For the next few weeks we will be looking at Kinnaman's book with a sermon series UnChristian: Is The Church Getting it Wrong?
