PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH FROM 7TH THROUGH 12TH GRADE

Our ministry provides a caring, safe and supportive environment where young people are encouraged to develop and nurture a Christ-centered lifestyle through worship, recreation, education, fellowship, service, and mission.

Youth and Children's Ministries were recently featured in a 2012 stewardship campaign video.

What do our 2011
seniors say about
Youth Ministries at
FUMC-Ann Arbor?

"The youth program here means a lot to me. It has been a place I look forward to coming to, a place where I have met friends, a place where I grew in my faith, and of course, a place that offered me opportunities to travel and serve others." Cara

"I can't remember the exact day on the retreat when I suddenly believed, but I know that when I left, I did. This youth group helped me find that, and that has helped define me in the past six years of my life." Joey

"This youth group has honestly been one of the best things I could have done. I had no intention of coming and my grandma suggested it to me...but I ended up coming on that first day and I kinda kept coming and I realized everything I would get out of this youth group." Michael

"The mission trips are definitely my favorite part of youth group, not just because of the traveling, but because my eyes have been opened at a young age and that has helped me to grow as a person and also open my heart and my mind." Kristi

"This youth group has done extraordinary things, and I'm so happy I got the chance to be a part of it. The amazing friends I've made and fantastic memories I have are what brings me back every week." A.J.

"This youth group has caused me to think about things that would never have crossed my mind otherwise. I owe so much to this group and hope it continues to push kids in the right direction." Katie

"I have a million plus six memories from youth group. Because of this experience [Costa Rica mission trip] I knew that social work was for me. All I wanted was to help and work with kids." Stephen

"When you approach community service with an open mind and excitement for the people you are serving, the door is open for gains far beyond what a physical or monetary donation could make. The relationships created through reaching out have been invaluable to me and continue to give me breadth and depth in my daily life." Garrett

Retreats and Mission Trips
We typically offer a SoulFull Retreat in March and a Fall Retreat in October. Active youth are eligible to apply for summer mission trips. Our 7th & 8th graders traditionally lead a Vacation Bible school on the Zeba Indian Reservation in Michigan's upper peninsula. 9th through 12th graders experience trips to a different destination each summer such as North Dakota, Puerto Rico, New Orleans, and Costa Rica.
