What Sisterhood is all about!
We are a group of adult women who attend First United Methodist Church. In the spirit of inclusion, we welcome all adults to our group. Our goal is to create a fun, safe and welcoming place to promote female friendships in the church and beyond, educate ourselves about women’s issues, participate together in the mission work of the church, and support each other along our faith journeys.
We have regular gatherings on the third Thursdays of the month. Thursday’s group is a small but consistent group of women that get together for fellowship. We usually meet at someone’s home though some other activities have been going out for dinner, attending Green Wood Coffeehouses, seeing a movie, and making sandwiches for L.O.V.E. Thy Neighbor. Dawn Rudnick is the main contact for the group (email@example.com).
We also have annual events such as the Advent Tea on the first Saturday of December (contact Carol Teener at firstname.lastname@example.org) and a FlyGirlz get-away weekend in August (contact Kim Garver at email@example.com).
We are also planning ‘pop-up’ events such as game nights, book discussions, going to movies, etc.
We are using traditional ways of communicating Sisterhood events through the church bulletin but we also use a ‘Meetup’ page. Meetup provides an ad-free online venue to promote Sisterhood events. Our Meetup Link for signing up is https://www.meetup.com/First-United-Methodist-Church-of-Ann-Arbor-The-Sisterhood/ so please feel free to join in! We are happy to have women take an active role in promoting events on Meetup that are already happening in the church, or in planning new events. Invite any and all friends!
