Trauma, Race and Our Hearts and Bodies: My Grandmother’s Hands

Have you ever considered that only a fraction of white supremacy exists in the mind? In the book My Grandmother’s Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies, Resmaa Menaken tells us that racial trauma lies primarily in our bodies; white and black bodies, as well as police bodies. Join Shonagh Taruza and Elaine Shaw as they lead us through experiential and body-based practices that explore racialized trauma. Also, join Centering Practices in October and November for a deeper dive into these practices. This class will be meeting both in person at FUMC (Calkins Hall) and on Zoom; if you attend in person, please be prepared to wear a mask.

Join the Zoom meeting here.
