What is happening?

FUMC is one church with two locations, a property in downtown Ann Arbor (Downtown) and another on Green Road near the University of Michigan’s North Campus (Green Wood). Each building is an investment in our time and resources. Our buildings hold our congregation, so that we can worship and go forth to serve the community in mission and service. Before deciding what future projects and renovations to make at each building, the church is undertaking a planning process to identify our collective future vision for our facilities. We will also articulate the steps needed to make that vision a reality.

Who is involved?

FUMC has contracted with a local consulting firm, Bridgeport Consulting – experienced in this type of planning – to serve as our partner in designing and facilitating an inclusive planning process. A “design team” comprising eight members of the congregation will support the project as Bridgeport’s co-creative partner and will guide the process. The members of the design team are:

  • Rev. Nancy Lynn
  • Marianne Clauw
  • Anne Cox
  • John Kaczor
  • Caleb Kline
  • Tim Kobler
  • Damani Partridge
  • Elaine Shaw

Additionally, approximately a dozen individuals who use the church facilities in varied ways will be asked to meet one-on-one with Bridgeport.

How can I participate?

FUMC will be hosting a series of all-church meetings to welcome broad perspectives. For each meeting, there will be an in-person option followed by a virtual option with similar content. Additional details will be shared closer to the time of the meeting. We hope you will join us for these important conversations!
