We recognize that all the abbreviations we use can be confusing! Here we attempt to provide an “alphabet soup glossary” to clear things up.

CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocates
Cool Disciples – Sunday school program for grades 1-6
DLP – Divine Light Pictures youth film project

FIE – First Instrumental Ensemble
FISH – Families In Service Here
FISH FRI is our once-monthly Friday night Service evening for people of all ages
FUMC – First United Methodist Church
FUMCN – First United Methodist Cooperative Nursery

IHN – Interfaith Hospitality Network is a consortium of over 30 local congregations of various denominations that volunteer to serve the needs of homeless families in Washtenaw County.
JOY – Just Older Youth — a group for senior citizens
JUMPSTARTT – Junior United Methodist People Share Totally Awesome Relationships and Time Together is a faith based, fellowship, and fun oriented monthly program for youth in grades 5 AND 6.
LOVE thy neighbor – Local Outreach Volunteer Effort – Program to feed our homeless community…
NOAH – Networking, Organizing, and Advocating of Health – a collaborative outreach effort with Family Service, Inc.
NOOMA – a series of short films produced by Rob Bell, based on the phonetic spelling of pneuma — which is “spirit” or “breath”.

UMYF – United Methodist Youth Fellowship – Sunday evening youth group for grades 7-12
Scrip – Just like money, scrip or gift cards can be used at stores from which they are issued. The Youth group sells scrip to fund their mission trips.
