Our Giving Tree this year continues to be virtual, but the gifts requested are real, and even more needed, than in the past. We are providing gifts for nearly 60 children in the Bryant and Hikone low-income neighborhoods through Community Action Network (CAN) and for two families at Alpha House.

The virtual Giving Tree contains the same information as the wish tags on the Giving Tree in the past–the child’s name, age, and their gift wishes. Children under 6th grade are requesting traditional gifts, while older kids are asking for gift cards only. Both CAN and Alpha House are also asking for donations of $25 Meijer gift cards to give to families to help purchase a holiday meal.

All the gift cards requested are available through FUMC. To purchase them, visit our giving webpage and select the “Giving Tree” option on the drop-down menu. Purchasing gift cards through the church benefits our Youth programs and is a safe and easy way to purchase them. The cards are delivered to the church for you, through the Youth Scrip program.

Traditional gifts may be dropped off at the Giving Tree outside the church office on Sunday mornings. If you need to drop off gifts at other times, please call the office at 734-662-4536 so that you can be let into the building.

Monetary donations may also be made our using giving webpage. These are especially needed this year to help us respond quickly and flexibly, making sure that no child on our list is disappointed. Checks can be mailed to the church, with “Giving Tree” noted on the memo line.

We hope to give these kids, who have had an especially rough year, a very real Merry Christmas!
