Support your Kenya Mission Team while celebrating the season!
We are selling red poinsettia plants for $10 each (5-7 blooms). Each plant you purchase provides a nutritious cup of porridge to one Gichunge primary school child for one school trimester.
Plants will be available on Sunday, Dec. 4 after the 10 a.m. downtown worship service in the Social Hall.
You may order in advance by contacting Kathy Macdonald via email, phone/text at 734-834-2532. Plants will also be available for sale on Dec. 4.
You can pay with a check (memo line: Kenya) or cash when you pick up your ordered plant. Alternatively, you can pay using the church’s Online Giving page. Log in, then use the pulldown menu and select KENYA POINSETTIAS.
Thanks to the generosity of FUMC, we have…
- Provided a midday meal for the entire 2022 school year to nearly 250 elementary school children every school day. Due to the ongoing drought conditions in Meru, this may be the only sustenance some have each day.
- Provided partial scholarships to more than 10 top women and men BLISS graduates to support their ongoing university studies.
- Provided funds to support teachers and students at BLISS and at Gichunge elementary school, including school supplies, revision books, and the purchase of a copy machine for the elementary, which saves the school hundreds of dollars in purchasing national exam practice books.
- Despite all of the challenges in Kenya, the scores on the national exams continued to rise at Gichunge primary, to the highest mean score ever achieved at Gichunge during the last exam cycle.
Pray for our neighbors in Kenya and consider joining a Mission team to Kenya in 2023!
Donations (without poinsettia purchase) are also welcome; $10 provides porridge to one Gichunge student for a full academic year.
