Would you like to help in our efforts to grow fresh vegetables for our hungry neighbors in Washtenaw County? Each year, in our Faith & Food Garden at our Green Wood location, we grow approximately 700 pounds of vegetables. This healthy food is donated to Food Gatherers for distribution to their many feeding programs. (FUMC has been a member of the local Food Gatherers Faith and Food Program since its inception in 2009.) We need people to help plant, water, harvest, and care for the garden from May through September. No gardening experience is necessary, and the time commitment can be as small or as large as you would like.

If you can’t work in the church garden, but  you would like to contribute vegetables or fruit from your home garden to Food Gatherers, you can leave your produce at Green Wood (on Green Road) on Wednesdays before 6:00 PM. Place your produce in bags on the bench under the tree near the garden and we will take them to Food Gatherers.

For those who want to support this ministry financially (to buy fencing, plants, seed, etc.) just drop a check in the offering plate made out to FUMC with “Faith and Food Garden” on the memo line of your check.

Thank you for helping fight hunger in our own community!
