Scouting for Food and LOVE Thy Neighbor have teamed up!
Every April, Troop 4, Scouts BSA, participates in Scouting for Food. This is one of Troop 4’s major service projects. In 2018, Troop 4 collected food and monetary donations equivalent to 18.5 tons = 37,000 lbs. of food! Food Gatherers provides 14,800 meals/day to residents of Washtenaw County. Spring is a particularly challenging time for Food Gatherers as donations tend to drop off. This directly impacts LOVE Thy Neighbor — a Food Gatherer’s Partner Program — because there is much less food available through the Food Gatherer’s free pantry.
Please donate! Donations of any size are gratefully accepted. Food donations can be placed in the blue bin with attached Scouting for Food flyer OR in the L.O.V.E. Thy Neighbor collection bins (both near the church office). Food will be sorted — that which can benefit our guests at St. Andrew’s immediately will be directed to L.O.V.E. Thy Neighbor. All other food donations will go to Food Gatherers for distribution through the wide network of other local food Partner Programs.
Monetary donations can be left in the church office. Please include “Scouting for Food” or “LOVE Thy Neighbor” on the memo line. THANK YOU All in advance for your support!
