We will be having a Giving Tree this year. Like so many things in our lives, it will be virtual, but the gifts requested are just as real, and even more needed, then in the past. We have been asked to provide gifts for nearly 60 children in the Bryant and Hikone low-income neighborhoods (through Community Action Network) and for  two families at Alpha House.

The virtual Giving Tree is online, but it will list the same information as the Wish Tags on the Giving Tree in the past – the child’s name, age, and their gift wishes. Children under 6th grade are requesting traditional gifts, while older kids are asking for gift cards only. All the gift cards requested will be available through our Youth Scrip program at FUMC online. Purchasing them will benefit our Youth programs, as well as being safe and easy to buy. Contact-less drop-off times for gifts will be held on Sundays at the downtown church on Nov. 29, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 from 1-3 p.m. Drive up the promenade (front of the church) and we will take the gift from your car, alternatively, you can place the gift on one of the tables outside.

Both CAN and Alpha House are also asking for donations of $25 Meijer gift cards to give to families to help purchase a Holiday meal. These can be bought through the FUMC Youth Scrip program online.

Monetary donations may also be made to the Giving Tree through the FUMC website. These are especially needed this year, to help us respond quickly and flexibly, making sure that no child on our list is disappointed. Checks may also be mailed to the church, with “Giving Tree” noted on the memo line.

We hope to give these kids, who have had an especially rough year, a very real Merry Christmas through our Virtual Giving Tree.
