CROP Walk 2025
Local & global hunger relief
In October 2025, First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Ann Arbor proudly hosted the Ann Arbor CROP Hunger Walk. This community event raises vital funds for both local and global hunger relief. 75 percent of all donations support the worldwide hunger relief efforts of Church World Service, while the remaining 25 percent is directed to six local organizations working to address hunger in our own community.
People involved
This year, more than 125 walkers of all ages came together in support of the cause, raising a total of $23,381. FUMC contributed 23 walkers to the effort, and 40 volunteers from FUMC and Wesley helped make the event possible through their hospitality and service.
Why FUMC participates
During opening remarks, Rev. Jenaba Waggy shared the heart behind FUMC’s involvement:
“Justice of all sorts is deeply embedded in our Methodist heritage, rooted in Scriptures that call us to feed the hungry and care for each other as God’s good creations. We are glad to stand with our siblings of all faiths and spiritualities in the work of ending hunger. We are also glad for the leadership and drive of Church World Service.”
