Protecting our congregation
On Feb. 19, 2026, 30 leaders from the church came together alongside two Michigan State Police officers for an important and proactive conversation: how to best protect our congregation in the unlikely event of an active shooter situation. The session provided valuable insight into safety planning, emergency response, and practical steps we can take to ensure preparedness while maintaining a welcoming environment.
Safety measures
This meeting marks an important step forward for our newly formed Safety and Security Team, co-chaired by Seth Guikema and Peter Logan. The team is already hard at work developing thoughtful policies, response plans, and evaluating potential equipment upgrades to strengthen our church’s safety measures.
