Bible Buddies

Sharing stories of God’s love

This Lent, a small, cuddly idea made a meaningful impact.

Through our Bible Buddies program, 19 children in Kids Ministry brought home a soft companion along with a simple invitation: spend time in scripture each day. Each child “adopted” a buddy and followed a reading guide created by our Kids Ministry team, building a daily rhythm of opening the Bible, reading aloud, and sharing stories of God’s love.

The buddies made it easy to cuddle up and read the Bible each night. My kids were so sad to return them at the end of Lent.

This program created such a meaningful nightly rhythm for our family. Ezra was so excited to read every day – even on vacation – and quickly became confident navigating his Bible.

Curiosity & faith

The goal was to help families slow down and experience scripture together, and it did just that. A few intentional minutes each day became a lasting practice, creating space for connection, curiosity and faith.

Seeds of faith

By the end of Lent, these well-loved buddies had heard many stories and prayers. Though they’ve now gone into “hibernation,” the rhythms they inspired continue, bedtime by bedtime, story by story. Sometimes, the smallest companions plant the biggest seeds of faith.

Bible Buddies helped us set apart intentional time to read scripture together – something that’s hard to do in a busy season. It was really special to hear my kids reading and I think they felt very proud to be able to have such a big part in it.

Sasha DeMoss

My Bible Buddy and I pondered so many stories together—from Jesus and the woman in John 8 to some of the harder parts of scripture. It made space for curiosity and deeper thinking about what the Bible is saying.

Bible Buddies is one of my favorite ways to help children deepen their faith. It creates a simple, meaningful entry point into scripture and helps build a practice that can stay with them for years.
