Disability Awareness Talks

March 26, 2023 @ 11:15 am - 12:30 pm

4th Sunday of the month – 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

“Have you ever wondered why some people stutter and some people don’t?”

Dr. Shanley Treleaven, postdoctoral fellow at U-M Speech Neurophysiology Lab, will talk about stuttering; separating common myths from the truth, discuss what stuttering is, what causes it, and even share promising research findings that could lead to new treatments. Attendees of all ages are encouraged to ask questions and join in the discussion. Children will have the opportunity to craft wearable “brain hats” that show all the parts of the brain and learn what each part does for us.

We will meet simultaneously in-person (Calkins Hall, 2nd floor of the downtown church) and via Zoom. Join the Zoom meeting here.

Questions? Contact Debbie Houghton.
