In our first fall worship series, “The Vows We Take”, we’re looking at our baptismal/membership vows — the basic instructions for how to be disciples of Christ and living like Jesus in the context of empire. We’ll explore the meaning of each vow, put it into more contemporary language, and apply it to life in our context today.

This week as we continue our sermon series about our baptismal vows, we’ll look at the third vow, which is the one a lot of people struggle with.  What does it mean to confess Jesus as savior, trust in his grace, and serve him as Lord? What did it mean for the first Christians? How is it relevant to our lives today?
